Push Ups For Charity Event In Williamsport A Success, Raising $2,892 for Wounded Warrior Project

“The Few, Honor the Wounded”

On Saturday, March 20, 2010 in tiny Williamsport, Maryland at 4-Star Athletic Complex, seven brave souls gathered to honor the wounded warriors of our armed forces who protect the freedom that so many take for granted.  The brave souls that gathered did so to participate in the Push-ups for Charity Challenge, which was held to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.  The Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.

This event was organized by Ron Hebb, a local injury reduction and performance enhancement professional, as a means to show support for the wounded warriors who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and security and as a way to engage the local community in a fun way to get fit.  Having worked as the Exercise and Training Program Manager for Headquarters Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall for nearly 12 years, this event was a perfect fit for Hebb.  During his time as a civil servant with the Marine Corps, he saw many severely wounded warriors return from deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The Push-ups for Charity Challenge was his way of raising funds for these wounded warriors.

Once the few remaining donations arrive, Push-ups for Charity Williamsport will have raised more than $2,892 for the Wounded Warrior Project. Every penny of this amount will go directly to the Wounded Warrior Project to support the programs and services that they provide for our wounded warriors.

Stay tuned for future Push-ups for Charity Challenges!  After doing the first challenge, Hebb is convinced that he can raise more money for the Wounded Warrior Project and that he can kick-start a mini fitness revolution … one push-up at a time.
